Hi all!

Thanks for visiting this blog, obviously I’ve piqued your interest enough to want to read a page about myself…or you’ve completely lost yourself in a very dark place in the internet.  Either or, here’s a little about myself.

I was born and raised in Fort McMurray Alberta, the very pinnacle of food that is offered in Fort Mac is Donairs.  I’m not knocking donairs, I love ’em, I’m just saying that the food didn’t stray too far from standard fare.  But when I was young, I was quite the picky eater, I had an expansive list of foods I wouldn’t touch but as a grown-up, that list has narrowed down to anything seafood, mushrooms and pickles…yes, that is narrowed.

I moved to Edmonton in 2004 to go do some post-secondary schooling and to me Edmonton was a mecca of excellent food compared to Fort Mac, at least when growing up and going to Edmonton on vacation, we always ate Chinese food and in Fort Mac, we’d never touch the stuff.  I never ventured too far off from the same Chinese noodle houses that I’ve regularly ate at while growing up.

It wasn’t up until the past couple of years that I started venturing off to more ‘exotic’ restaurants.  It started with my first overseas trip I’ve ever taken on my own to Thailand, which ended up lasting about three awesome life-changing months.

While in Thailand I tried more unique foods than I ever have my life prior to the trip, not only was Thai food new to me but I also tried Indian food and falafel and more. I learned to appreciate more flavours other than salt.  I quickly learned to appreciate the different flavours in various herbs and was able to distinguish each flavour.  During my trip I became more of a ‘live to eat’ person rather than a ‘eat to live’ person.

My next major trip was off to Vietnam, main reason was mostly because of the food.  One of the books I was equipped with was strictly a book on food in Vietnam.  Seriously, for 30 cents you can get a steamy bowl of pho.

I’m doing this blog just as a hobby really, there’s absolutely no other reason for me to actually be doing this.  I hope you all enjoy visiting this site as I hope I will enjoy doing this project.

Hey Clem, you graduated in 2006, so you probably moved to Edmonton in 2004… And yes, I’ve seen your blog! It’s quite professional! Who knew there were so many pho places in the city?

Ha, thanks Trev, I lost track of days. Yeah, this is a big undertaking if I’m going to keep track of all the pho places in Edmonton and else where. But it’s been fun!

Hey Chris, my apologies. I’ve been having minor health problems with my knees and ankles and it’s knocked my routine out of whack. I have a few more restaurants to do that I will do eventually and I’ll see what I want to do in the future.

      Thanks for the post.
