Xin chào, everyone!
I originally had an idea to do a ‘versus’ post this week, it was going to be the ‘Battle of the Double Entendres‘. I was waiting on a new Vietnamese restaurant to open up in downtown Edmonton called ‘The Phat Noodle’ next to my office and then put it head-to-head against a restaurant on the south side called ‘Hung Phat’ (3849 99 Street). Yes, it was going to be an article long penis joke.
Unfortunately, ‘The Phat Noodle’ didn’t have Satay Beef Noodle Soup so my plans fell through. ‘Hung Phat’ on the other hand has ‘Satay Beef Rice Noodle Soup‘ for $9.95. The broth is deep red colour and it incredibly thick and chunky, I’m thinking they cook minced peanuts and lemongrass in soup to give it its chunkiness. There’s lettuce strips, tomato slices, cucumber slices and white and green onion slices throughout the soup. The flavour of the broth is rich tasting and sweet with a slight bit of spiciness. There’s quite a bit of veggies at the expense of noodles and the meat as well. Overall, this meal is very flavourful and filling, a very good offering by ‘Hung Phat’.
