Pho Hoan Pasteur

Salutations boys and girls,

Next stop, Pho Hoan Pasteur (11443 Kingsway Ave).  This place was suggested by a good friend and when it comes to food, I can definitely trust him.  After some poor planning, I ended up here at 2 PM on a Sunday, I was expecting a quiet late lunch but as I walked through the door, the place was packed and had to wait for a seat!  To me, that’s a good sign.

Pho Hoan Pasteur offers a ‘Large Beef Sate Pho‘ for $9.00 plus $1.50 for ‘Extra Large’, the picture is not doing it justice, but this bowl is huuuuge.  I’ve never seen a bowl this size, I think this is meant for serving a family of four.  I bet if Adam Richman from ‘Man vs Food’ saw this, he’d be sexually aroused.

The meal comes out steaming hot and quick, the broth has a rich orange colour to it and contains green onion and onion slices, cilantro pieces and bits of peanuts.  The broth is sweet and savoury with a mild amount of spiciness, all-in-all, the broth is very flavourful and offers a good amount of kick to it.

Now, getting back to my first impression, the portion of this meal is immense!  For the total price of $10.50, which is a little above the average price of just a standard sized bowl, you get the massive bowl of noodles, soup and meat.  Nothing is skimped for this price, the noodles and meat lasts all the way till the end.  This meal is near-perfect.

Broth: 4/5   Portion: 5/5   Overall Taste: 4/5   Value: 5/5

Overall Satisfaction: 5/5
